The big topic and presentation up for discussion at the October 11th BIM Council Meeting was Morganne Kepler's Organic Recovery Presentation. Her presentation was comprehensive and detailed but no recommendations were presented as it was not part of her mandate. This was commissioned by the Knick, Knack, Knook and the Zero Waste Bowen organization largely as a result of stricter waste guidelines that are coming down from the GVRD beginning in 2012. The bottom line is waste disposal is going to get more expensive and more restricted.
Also up on the roster was the 2011 Islands Trust Community Stewardship Award to Sue Ellen Fast and more discussion initiated from Karen Blow, BIM CFO, on the Permissive Tax Exemptions Bylaw.
