The first Bowen Island Municipal Council Meeting for the year began with a discussion about moving to "anecdotal" minute taking rather than ones that tended towards "verbatim" style minutes as a way, in part, to remove the potential for a politicization of action taken from the meetings. The topic then swiftly moved to a "Draft Budget / Five Year Plan" presentation from Director of Finance, Joanne Cunday. Several topics received more weight than others, with those being the burn rate and use of reserves including stepping up the amount of money allocated to roads, as well as the comfort level of each Councillor on the level of taxation. After the budget presentation there was some discussion on the slated Approving Officer's meeting with the public to go over the Development Permit for Cape Roger Curtis. CAO Slegtenhorst also gave a brief but detailed report on his recent activities and accomplishments.
