The January 18th Bowen Island Municipal Council Meeting was primarily the second go-around with the "Draft 2010 Budget / Five Year Plan". Councillors stated their preferences in terms of what they felt should be cut but also and probably of more importance... what should not be cut in terms of support for Community programming by non-profits and cultural groups. Council's collective view is still to target the tax increase to between 3 and 4%. The Mayor at the end of the meeting lauded Ms. Cunday and Mr. Slegtenhorst for their efforts in presenting the budget in the form they did for Council. He further remarked that this go-around has been the easiest to date as the material is presented in a form that is easily digested and assessed by Council. The CAO stated that departmental staff were in large measure responsible for the material that lay before them.
The first item on the agenda was a status report from the Advisory Planning Committee.
